Co-Founder, WHOLE WORLD Water
Karena Albers co-founded WHOLE WORLD Water alongside Jenifer Willig after speaking at a symposium in the Maldives hosted by Sonu Shivasani. The symposium was attended by several luminaries, including Sir Richard Branson, Jonathon Porritt and Tim Smitt. The idea behind WHOLE WORLD Water is to unite the hospitality and tourism industries to raise significant funds for the over 1 billion people that do not have access to clean and safe drinking water through a new innovative business model.
In addition to her work foe WHOLE WORLD Water, Albers is also Founder of the documentary filmmaking company, Kontentreal. Films in Kontentreal’s roster include the award-winning series e2: The Economies of Being Environmentally Conscious, narrated by Brad Pitt; ecoist’s, a series of shorts for the Sundance Channel; and Discovery Channel’s Fast Forward.
Albers was recently elected to serve on the Global Water Council for the World Economic Forum. As Co-Founder of WHOLE WORLD Water, Founder of Kontentreal, and through her work with the World Economic Fund, Albers continues to champion the synergies between brand strategy and entertainment. She is known for using her entrepreneurial and marketing acumen as an instrument of change and innovation through high quality content. Over the years, Albers’ campaigns and films have been awarded with the Cannes Golden & Silver Lions, Effies Emmy’s, the Peabody Award, the Spirit Award and the Grantham Award.
